Peter Pan returns to Neverland

Funny that just this weekend I watched that fantastic movie “Finding Neverland”, where Johnny Depp pulls off a remarkable impersonation of JM Barrie and the plot pulls on your heart strings in every possible manner. But surprise, surprise! The sequel that inspired JM Barrie’s classic, Peter Pan, is finally finished and ready to hit the shelves.

I remember reading about Geraldine McCaughrean’s appointment to write the sequel to this classic children’s book, some time back. Somehow it got relegated to the back of my mind and I haven’t thought of it since. Nonetheless, from all accounts, she has done a great job and the ‘Peter Pan in Scarlet‘ is now in huge demand. All good for the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, who will share the royalties on the sale of the book… and presumably the movie that will be destined to follow.

For any modern fiction collector now, it would be a dream to own a first edition of the original Peter Pan, and the sequel released over a century after its predecessor.
